Medellín is internationally recognized for its climate, landscapes, gastronomy, and its traditional Christmas lights, which year after year decorate different areas of the metropolitan region. For this reason, both national and international tourists consider the so-called “City of Eternal Spring” a top destination to spend the holiday season. This also adds significant value if you own an apartment for sale in Medellín or any type of commercial property.

The tradition of Christmas lights in Medellín has its epicenter this year in Parque Norte. From there, the lights spread throughout much of the city, decorating parks and various locations that make Medellín shine with its own light. For 52 years, EPM has given this gift to the city, creating great anticipation every year among residents who eagerly await how they will be surprised each Christmas.

Until January 6, 2020, Parque Norte recreates a giant traditional nativity scene featuring the classic figures of Joseph, Mary, the cow, the ox, and, of course, baby Jesus, along with additional characters that make this setting magical and pleasant to visit.
From Parque Norte, the display extends to several iconic city locations such as Avenida La Playa, the Ayacucho Tram, Carrera 70, Pueblito Paisa, and Paseo Bolívar.

These sites are adorned with different styles of lighting, ranging from traditional Christmas elements such as bells, candles, garlands, and decorative ornaments, to designs inspired by popular New Year’s traditions passed down through generations, such as the twelve grapes, lentils, and suitcases.

Without a doubt, the biggest highlight is the return of the Christmas lights along the Medellín River promenade, now known as Parques del Río. Here, programmed combinations of lights and colors constantly change, creating a magical environment worth walking through and exploring in detail. One of its main attractions is a 16-meter-tall Christmas tree, illuminated and decorated with festive figures.
